Trefriw Woollen Mills
View the weaving, turbine, working mill museum, shop and tearoom. In 1859 Thomas Williams bought the mill which is still owned and run by his descendants and manufactures traditional fabrics in contemporary colours for soft furnishing, garments
and accessories.
The mill generates its own electricity and carries out all the processes from fleece to fabric on machines which are over 50 years old. As this is a working wool museum the machines run according to production needs. Hand spinning demonstration, a display of solar dyeing using natural dyes and the Weaver’s Garden with fibre and dye plants can be viewed (see opening hours). Our pure wool products include Welsh “tapestry” bedspreads, travel rugs, knitting wool, tweed, soft furnishings and accessories and are exclusive to our shop
and website.
2012 sees the introduction of our new styles in tweed & tapestry ladieswear. We also stock pure wool knitwear and accessories plus sheepskin goods. Hot and cold drinks, cakes and scones are served in the tearoom.
